Three residents from Ashworth Grange care home in Dewsbury enjoyed a ladies day out, when they took a trip to the extravagant Waterton Park Hotel in Walton. Joyce Booty, Doreen Tyas and Joan Burton relished the experience of being served cream tea in the formal lounge whilst looking over the well-manicured gardens.
This is the second time residents from Ashworth Grange have visited Waterton Park in Wakefield, with the first trip in November going down so well, that Joyce rebooked and brought along her friends Doreen and Joan to enjoy the day. All three residents loved watching the wildlife whilst they ate their hot scones, remarking about the elegant birds outside and their stunning habitat.
Regional Activities Executive for Ashworth Grange, Yvonne Mulholland, went on the trip with the residents. She said “We had such a great day out, even the gloomy skies and rain didn’t dampen our spirits. Waterton Park is a fantastic venue for enjoying a cream tea, and we had so many laughs that other diners commented that they wanted to join our table! We will be booking to return in the summer as our residents would like to enjoy their cream tea on the patio next time.”
The group then had fun whilst waiting for their transport home with Joyce posing on the grand sofa announcing that she could get used to this. They picked up some brochures from the hotel and couldn’t wait to take them home to show their friends and tell them all about their day out. Joan said, “I absolutely loved the trip. It was a new experience for me and at 91 that is saying something! I can’t wait to visit again, the cream tea was beautiful.”
