To all our residents, relatives and friends,
We understand that this is a very difficult time for everyone and it is extremely upsetting that families are unable to visit their loved ones when they choose. We therefore wanted to reassure you of the things we are doing within our homes to manage and adapt to this unprecedented situation and to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of our residents and staff.
Firstly, and most importantly, we continue to follow all government guidelines, as well as our own additional measures that have been put in place. This means that most residents are still able to safely utilise all our social spaces, including enjoying the gardens throughout this recent warm spell, all whilst practicing the social distancing guidelines as set out by the government. Most residents are also able to continue to use the dining areas at mealtimes, although in smaller groups than usual and at a safe distance from others, and we have the option to serve our nutritious meals in resident’s own rooms should they wish or if this is necessary due to isolation guidelines.
You will be aware if yourself or your loved one has been identified as being at high risk and these people are being ‘shielded’, in line with government guidelines and just as they would at home, in order to provide them with maximum protection at this time. This will be with the dedicated support of our caring staff team who continue to ensure that their person-centred care remains second to none throughout these challenging times.
There has been much negative press in regards to other frontline services not having access to the equipment they require and we would like to reassure you that our contingencies remain in place and our staff have access to everything they need including personal protection equipment. Our homes continue to be fully supported by our directors and Head Office function, including compliance and Human Resources, with regular video call meetings and our in-house training team are working hard to keep our staff teams fully appraised on the latest information and practices by way of regular online seminars.
Even though our usual outside entertainers are unable to join for now, our staff teams are doing an amazing job at keeping residents busy and occupied with various activities and crafts. We have seen many instances of our staff going above and beyond throughout this period and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their dedication and commitment. As always, our residents are at the heart of the home and everyone is pulling together to minimise disruption and maintain normal care home life as much as possible for them.
Our Facebook pages are full of all the wonderful things we are enjoying and we hope you are able to make use of video calling functions to be able to stay in touch with your loved one. Please do not hesitate to contact your Home Manager if you would like to set up a video call (being mindful of protected mealtimes) or if you have any further questions or suggestions.
We review our policies regularly and we will keep you updated as and when the situation changes.
Thank you for your continued co-operation,
