Covid 19 (Coronavirus) Update - 11th May 2020

Published: Monday 11th May 2020

To all our residents, relatives and friends,

COVID 19 (Coronavirus) - Update

I am sure you will agree that it was a relief to hear the shape of a plan and some optimistic news from Boris Johnson during his address to the nation last night.  It is reassuring that progress has been made and the roadmap that may help us to move towards a ‘new normal’ in the foreseeable future has been formed.

However, it was also clear that at this time most of the restrictions that have become a part of all our daily lives remain in place in order for us to continue to control the virus.  We must maintain social distancing rules and this means that our current policies regarding visitors are unchanged.  We do understand how difficult it is to not be able to visit your loved ones when you choose but we hope you are finding comfort in utilising Facetime and Skype in order to virtually catch up as much as possible.  If there is anything more that we can do to help you to maintain virtual contact with your loved one, please speak to your Home Manager who will be happy to discuss.

We would like to reassure you that our own policies and procedures, together with official guidance measures are still in place to keep our residents protected and our homes safe.  Through our ongoing relationships with trusted suppliers, we were swiftly able to bulk purchase essential supplies such as PPE for our teams and they continue to have access to everything they require in order to stay safe and provide the very best person-centred care.

Our high standards of infection control remain in place and our teams have shown a fantastic level of skill and commitment in how they have adopted new processes and measures quickly and successfully.  Following research into how natural ventilation can help slow the spread of viruses, and in order to continue to move forward, we have launched a new initiative across all our homes calledIdeal Fresh Living.  Our modern buildings, with spacious gardens, provide a perfect environment to be able to implement natural ventilation and together with our usual policies, Ideal Fresh Living will bring a new focus on ways to build fresh air into our homes each day.  Ideal Fresh Living  also gives further guidance on cleaning and sanitisation, going above and beyond the exceptional standards we already employ.

We are extremely proud of our colleagues and thank them for their unfaltering care, commitment and passion.  They are an absolute inspiration and it really is clear that their residents are at the heart of everything they do.  May we take this opportunity to also thank you for your ongoing support – each thoughtful message and donation we have received has provided a boost to our teams and it really does make a huge difference.  We continue to ensure that our residents enjoy regular events and celebrations and we hope that you enjoyed the VE Day ‘We’ll Meet Again’ singalong last week as much as we did.

Despite the circumstances, there have been many enlightening and happy times that have been enjoyed throughout the last few weeks and we are hopeful that it will be these positive times that are remembered as we look back on this period.

Thank you for your continued co-operation and stay safe,

Stacey Linn
