To all our residents, relatives and friends,
We understand how difficult the last couple of months have been for you and your loved ones and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for your continued support, and for all the wonderful kinds words and gifts for our teams which have meant so much to us all.
As we start to see a light at the end of the tunnel after such unprecedented times, we begin to look to the future and how we can slowly begin to move towards our new normal, whilst retaining the utmost safety for our residents and staff that we have worked so hard to protect.
The wellbeing of our residents is our priority and there is nothing more important to us than keeping them in touch with loved ones in any way we can. It has always been our objective to be able to reunite families at the very earliest opportunity, and as soon as regulations allow, as we know what a huge boost this will be to everyone. With guidance now stating that it is safe to meet outdoors, but still at a social distance, we have put in place ways for you to be reunited with your loved ones safely.
Along with the rest of the country we are still prohibited from allowing visitors within our homes, but throughout June each home will organise ‘relative drive throughs’ so you are able to meet with your loved ones outdoors and in compliance with government guidelines. These ‘drive throughs’ will be carefully organised by our Lifestyle Managers and Activity Co-ordinators and each family will be required to book a scheduled time to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to come along but that the events remain quiet, safe and of course, very special for everyone. Where there is sufficient space, relatives will be able to get out of their cars and chat from a safe distance (this will be clearly marked) and we are happy to make arrangements for people who do not drive or have access to a car.
With the hope that things continue positively, in July we would look to introduce small ‘garden get-togethers’ where relatives would be able to join us in the grounds of our homes to spend time with their loved ones. Again, appointments would be carefully managed by our Lifestyle teams to maintain safety and compliance and we will send further details on this nearer the time. We will, of course, have contingencies in place should the British weather not allow for us to hold garden meetings and arrangements will continue to uphold our stringent policies and government guidelines.
I hope that these measures provide you with comfort that we are doing everything we can to reunite you with your loved ones but with the safety of our residents, staff and the wider community at the heart of every decision.
