To all our residents, relatives and friends,
As this first week of new visiting guidelines draws to a close, the timing is even more poignant as we approach a year to the day since making the tough decision to close our homes to visitors in order to protect our residents and staff during the first throes of the Coronavirus pandemic.
I speak for myself as well as our teams when I say that we are brimming with excitement to steadily welcome our one constant visitor back to our homes to meet with their loved one in a more relaxed way. There is also an understandable level of anxiety, despite the robust safety measures we are taking, that any relaxation in our stringent guidelines would undoubtably bring.
However, this is heavily outweighed by the emotional scenes and the beaming smiles we have seen from our residents and their visitors (even behind the masks!) this week. The atmosphere in the homes has been palpable as we know that, coupled with many of our homes having their second vaccine, this is another step back to normality.
As an ‘Ideal’ family, we have all been through a huge amount this past year but we have been through it together. There have been challenging times and difficult decisions but there has also been plenty of fun and laughter. You have all been part of this journey with us and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support, patience and understanding over the last 12 months. We all appreciate how hard these times have been for you and your wider families.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all our mums a very Happy Mothering Sunday and we look forward to even brighter times ahead.
