Fairway View care home in Bulwell received a 'Good' rating from the Care Quality Commission ('CQC') in an inspection report published early April 2016. The home achieved the enviable rating in four key areas of care: safe, caring, responsive and well-led.
The report was complimentary about all areas of the home, but particularly for the staff who work there. The Inspector observed staff providing one-to-one care for residents and taking the time to discuss their care needs. Residents at Fairway View commented to the Inspector that they felt safe in the home and the staff treated them well, with nothing being too much trouble. A relative visiting the home at the time of the inspection said about the staff: 'They don't just support our [relative], they support us as well.'
Staff expressed their confidence in Home Manager, Emma Johnson, saying they felt supported, valued and confident to discuss views or concerns, and they praised her open door policy. Emma said: 'I am so proud to have achieved such a glowing report from the CQC inspection. The teams' efforts and dedication to their residents is second to none. The staff make a real difference to the lives of our residents and the report just proves that Fairway View is a great place to live. I'm aiming for our next report to be Outstanding - we have the team, the beautiful building and the dedication to make that happen.'
CQC made the unannounced visit on 9 December 2015. Having spent time interacting with staff and residents, they found residents enjoyed the food the home has to offer, with a varied choice of nutritionally balanced meals. The Inspector noted that residents benefitted from a wide range of activities and trips out to local attractions including a boat trip in the summer. There was an entertainer present on the day of the inspection and staff could be seen dancing and singing along with residents.
Sam Barclay, Ideal Carehomes Regional Director, commented,'Ideal Carehomes is always striving to find new ways we can improve our care and make a difference to the lives of our residents. It was therefore exceptionally pleasing to read that a relative commented to the Inspector that everyone always seems really happy at Fairway View. A comment like that is testament to the amazing work of Emma and her team.'
The overarching theme of the report is that the people who live at Fairway View feel safe, are happy and are being cared for and supported with privacy and dignity.
