Four members of staff from Ebor Court residential and dementia in York were finalists for the Yorkshire region Great British Care Awards. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work and care workers can be nominated by colleagues, relatives and residents.
The four members of staff from Ebor Court, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, were all up for awards at Friday’s gala dinner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Mary Brown works as Laundry Assistant and was nominated for the Ancillary Worker Award, Mary Robinson is a Care Assistant and was up for the Care Home Worker Award, Candice Heald is a Senior Care Assistant and was finalist in the Dementia Carer category and Lauren Blenkinsop works as Front of House Manager and was up for the Frontline Leader Award. They were shortlisted as finalists earlier this year after being picked from numerous entries by a team of judges from the Yorkshire region.
The judges were looking for care professionals who stood out to them by providing a consistently high standard of care, respecting residents’ privacy and dignity, with evidence of dedication and ‘going the extra mile’. The residents at Ebor Court couldn’t have been more thrilled that the four were selected as finalists in these prestigious awards, and even though they didn’t win their categories at the awards, they are all winners in the residents’ eyes.
Rodney Juffs, who has lived at Ebor Court for nearly 2 years, said “As a resident of Ebor Court care home, I consider it a well-deserved honour that four of our carers were selected for outstanding achievement at the recent awards ceremony. It represents the standards of care which they and all the staff provide here”.
Ideal Carehomes’ Regional Director for Yorkshire, Amanda Richardson, attended the gala dinner with all the Yorkshire finalists. She said “We were thrilled to have twelve members of staff who are finalists in the Yorkshire region and over thirty throughout Ideal homes. All our staff are so dedicated and committed and there is a real family feel at Ebor Court, which must have come across to the judges. Our staff really make Ideal homes great places to live and it is great that the Care Awards raise the profile of the care sector as a whole.”
Ebor Court is operated by Ideal Carehomes and has 64 en-suite bedrooms. The home is committed to offering their residents aspirational lifestyle choices and an active social environment with events, trips and daily activities on offer.
