Four members of staff from Coppice Lodge care home in Arnold were voted as finalists for the East Midlands region Great British Care Awards. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work and care workers can be nominated by colleagues, relatives and residents.
The four members of the team from Coppice Lodge, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, were up for awards at last Saturday’s gala dinner at the Belfry Hotel in Nottingham. Tara Savidge works as Care Manager and was up for the Dementia Carer Award, Catherine Simons is Laundry Assistant and was nominated for the Ancillary Worker Award, Charlotte Wells works as Kitchen Manager and was up for Care Home Cook/Chef Award, and Home Manager Samantha Kavanagh was nominated for the Care Home Manager Award. They were shortlisted as finalists earlier this year after being picked from numerous entries by a team of judges from the East Midlands region.
The judges were looking for care professionals who stood out to them by providing a consistently high standard of care, respecting residents’ privacy and dignity, with evidence of dedication and ‘going the extra mile’. The residents at Coppice Lodge couldn’t have been more thrilled that the four were selected as finalists in these prestigious awards, and even though they didn’t win their categories at the awards, they are all winners in the residents’ eyes. Sybil Toplis, who has lived at Coppice Lodge for four years, said “I am very, very happy for them, and their continued service to the home. This all makes it a very happy home to live in.”
Samantha Kavanagh has been Home Manager at Coppice Lodge since the beginning of this year, and is proud of all her staff members. She said ““I was thrilled to be nominated of course, but I was most excited for the other members of the team. They work so hard and really deserve this recognition. In fact, the whole staff team are so dedicated and committed, and the Great British Care Awards really raises the profile of the care sector as a whole.”
Coppice Lodge is operated by Ideal Carehomes and has 64 en-suite bedrooms. The home is committed to offering their residents aspirational lifestyle choices and an active social environment with events, trips and daily activities on offer.
