Residents at luxury care homeCoppice Lodgein Arnold geared up for a visit from a local motorbike group on Good Friday. Arnold Bikers visited the care home to spread some Easter cheer, delivering sweet treats to the home’s residential and dementia residents as well as showing-off their motorcycles.
Residents enjoyed watching the parade of roaring motorbikes arriving in the car park which is sure to provide a talking point for weeks to come. Home Manager, Samantha Kavanagh said, “What a treat for us all! We have some motorbike enthusiasts here at Coppice Lodge so they were keen to talk to the Arnold Bikers about their bikes. We love to get involved in community events and the event sparked some great memories for our residents.”
The group of 14 bikers are based at The Mayor Oak pub in Arnold and are aiming to detach themselves from the usual biking stereotypes by regularly holding fundraising events, raising money for charity and supporting the local Arnold community.
Ann Rogers, part of the Arnold Bikers group said, “We are trying to create a more positive image of bikers and so we do lots of fundraising and charitable work. We delivered Easter eggs to various places all around Arnold and we chose Coppice Lodge as one of our destinations to help spread a little cheer amongst the older generation – as it is not just children who love chocolate! We really enjoyed our visit to Coppice Lodge and I am sure we will drop by again soon.”
The bikers rolled up atCoppice Lodge riding various classic and modern bikes and residents were keen to get a good view of the spectacle. Sybil Toplis, who lives at Coppice Lodgesaid, “I really enjoyed the day. It was certainly a treat to see all the bikes outside and it brought back great memories of when my husband and I used to take to the roads on his motorbike.”
