The party, which included both homes’ registered managers, Dorothy Mbulo of Fairway View and Coppice Lodge’s Samantha Kavanagh, along with colleagues including care workers, lifestyle managers, activity coordinators plus family members, were raising money for each respective home’s residents’ fund.
Raising a grand total of £180, people living at Coppice Lodge plan to buy a plaque and some roses for their new memorial garden whilst some welcome additions will be made to an Alice In Wonderland themed garden at Fairway View, which will also be enjoyed by children that attend its weekly ‘tots’ group.
The walk’s organiser, Ideal Carehomes’ Regional Lifestyle Manager, Cat Goddard, said: “Our annual sponsored walk is an eagerly anticipated event as our residents love nothing more than exploring the area in and around our amazing city.
“This year they chose to walk around the beautiful lake at Highfields as it’s a place that is very special to many of them. We had the most wonderful day reminiscing and sharing memories of time spent here with loved ones – the sun even shone for us! The homes are only a short distance away from each other and we regularly get together to enjoy outings and events.
“We are all so pleased to have raised money for the residents’ funds which will be put to good use in buying some special additional items that mean so much to the people who live with us. ”
