Brian, along with fellow Newfield Lodge friends, enjoyed front row seats at the club’s famous ‘Jungle’ stadium and sang Sweet Caroline as the Tigers claimed a stunning 42-10 victory over their southern counterparts.
His visit forms part of the home’s #mywishwasgranted initiative in which residents make a wish and the care team does everything in their power to fulfil it.
Lifestyle manager at Newfield Lodge, Emily Waugh, said:“We are absolutely thrilled that Brian has been able to soak up the atmosphere of a live game once again! He’s a huge sports fan and we know how much it means to him to be able to sit in the stands, sing his heart out and be amongst the fans.
“We have a varied activities and entertainment programme here at Newfield Lodge and our #mywishwasgranted scheme is another way to support our residents to try new things and continue to live full and exciting lives. Being able to make personal aspirations come true and grant wishes that people might not otherwise get the chance to do is something that’s very close to all of our hearts. It means that we are providing totally person-centred care and making some wonderful memories for the people living with us.”
Brian, added:“I haven’t watched a live Rugby League game in 50 years – it was fantastic!”
