Staff and residents at two of Ideal Carehomes’ Yorkshire sites are celebrating after receiving overall ratings of ‘good’ from regulatory body, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Newfield Lodge in Castleford and Greenacres in Huddersfield were praised for their service after the unannounced inspections in October this year.  They join provider Ideal Carehomes other Yorkshire homes - Ashworth Grange in Dewsbury, Lydgate Lodge in Batley, Ebor Court in York and Hambleton Grange in Thirsk - which all have a ‘good’ rating with the CQC, making it a clean sweep in the Yorkshire region.

Newfield Lodge and Greenacres both delivered across the board achieving the rating of ‘good’ in all five key areas of inspection; ‘responsive’ ‘safe’, ‘effective’, ‘caring’ and ‘well-led’.

Inspectors praised Newfield Lodge for creating an environment where residents felt safe and supported in making decisions about their daily lives. The staff were also commended on their teamwork, with the report stating that “the whole staff team, not just the care staff, were friendly and cheerful taking time to stop and chat with people.”

Greenacres was also said to give it residents “maximum choice and control of their lives” and “were involved in their care planning to ensure their choices were reflected.” Inspectors also commented that the staff were “kind, caring and compassionate”.

Both homes live by the Ideal Carehomes’ ethos of person-centred care and promoting independence and were applauded for providing a varied range of lifestyle choices and activities for residents, including gardening clubs, exercise classes and walking groups for residents to enjoy.

Lynn Robinson, General Manager at Newfield Lodge, said:“We are absolutely thrilled to have upheld our ‘good’ rating by the CQC. It’s fantastic to have such high praise for our brilliant team. They always put the residents’ needs first and we were delighted to read their glowing feedback in the report.”

Sarah Tomczynski, Care Manager at Greenacres, added:“The result really is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who consistently go above and beyond to ensure that our residents have the quality of care they deserve.”

Newfield Lodge and Greenacres provide 24 hour residential and dementia care with an inclusive fee offer in a modern and luxurious setting. The homes feature a hair salon, spacious lounges, a café area and landscaped gardens.  The caring and highly trained staff teams promote independence and choice through the personalised care they deliver.
