Staff and residents at Brinnington Hall care home in Manchester have been sharing their advice and special memories about raising their children this Father’s Day.
The gents will be enjoying an afternoon packed with activities such as football and beer trivia quizzes and a special Father’s Day lunch and tea menu.
Resident, Alan Firth, has four children and two grandchildren and believes that to treat people with kindness is the greatest lesson a father should teach. He said, ‘I think new dads should try and spend as much time with their children as possible. Being a dad is one of life’s greatest gifts and the best ‘job’ I have ever had!’.
Ibrar Hussain, who has worked as a Senior Carer at Brinnington Hall since 2018 said, ‘I have a one year old son and I cannot express how much my life has changed in such a short space of time! I cherish every moment with my son, and I think that is the best advice I can give to new dads – time truly flies when you’re having fun!’.
Reg Macneill, 84, has four children and considers spending time with your children and watching them grow and being happy is the best thing about being a dad. He said, ‘I have always been an encouraging father and shown an interest in my children’s hobbies. I do believe that it one of the best things you can do as a parent, supporting their dreams, it teaches them that anything is possible if they put the work in!’.
Kenneth Calvert, who has lived at Brinnington Hall since 2013, has one son and thinks that new dads should just try to do their best, he said ‘All you can ever do is your best and as long as you are… then that is all that matters!’.
Home Manager, Rachel McIntosh, said, ‘Father’s Day is always such a special time at Brinnington Hall, and it will be no different this year. We will make a big fuss of all our gents and we have lots of ways to make sure that they are in contact with their loved ones.’
