Staff at Brinnington Hall care home in Manchester have been recognised amongst the best of the North West’s social care workers by reaching the finals of the regional Great British Care Awards.
The care team have scooped an impressive four finalists across four categories including Care Newcomer, Putting People First, Registered Home Manager and Social Care Covid-19 Hero awards.
The finalists have been nominated by colleagues, residents, relatives or professionals and are selected by a team of judges from their region. Each nomination is a testament to the team’s dedication to their role, providing person-centred care for their residents.
The purpose of the Great British Care Awards is to pay tribute to those individuals in the care sector who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.  The finalists will attend a virtual meeting later this month where they will be interviewed by several judges who themselves work within the care sector.  The results will be announced at a regional gala dinner in April with the winners securing a place at the national awards.
Front of House Manager and ‘Newcomer of the Year’ finalist, Nicole Carlisle, said, ‘To have joined the Brinnington Hall team in April, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, being brand new to care, and still be recognised for my work is truly very touching. I have loved every minute of my new role.  Even when there are challenges, we have rallied together as a team to lift each other up and support our residents to the fullest’.

84 year-old Resident, Reginald MacNeill, said, ‘The Brinnington Hall care team are absolutely fantastic, I have been hugely impressed with their commitment to their work over the course of the pandemic, and I see first-hand how everyone goes above and beyond for us. Our finalists should be very proud of themselves; I am looking forward to hearing all about their interviews over a nice cup of tea!’.

Home Manager, Rachel McIntosh, who has been selected for The Care Home Registered Manager Award, said, ‘I am so proud of everything my team have achieved over the past year.  Their dedication and commitment to their residents is been nothing short of inspiring. To also be a finalist myself for the Care Home Manager award is extremely touching.
