Staff at Lydgate Lodge care home in Batley have been recognised amongst the best of Yorkshire’s social care workers by the Great British Care Awards.
The care team have scooped a place in the regional finals in the ‘Care Home Team’ award, which is presented to the team who are able to best demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals. Along with strong leadership, excellent communication and commitment to demonstrating dignity and privacy to residents and also respect for each team member.
The Great British Care Award finalists have been anonymously nominated by colleagues, residents, relatives or professionals and are selected from numerous entries by a team of judges from their region. The nomination is testament to the team’s dedication and genuine efforts to go above and beyond their job role to provide person-centred care for their residents.
The finalists will attend a virtual meeting this week where they will be interviewed by several judges who themselves work within the care sector. The results will be announced at a regional gala dinner in April with the winners securing a place at the national awards.
The Great British Care Award finalist announcement, follows Lydgate Lodge’s recent staff celebration as six incredible team members were recently recognised for reaching their working centenary anniversaries, accomplishing ten years of loyal service to their Yorkshire residents.
Ernest Barnes, who celebrated his 100th birthday with the team in May, said, ‘Every one of the carers at Lydgate Lodge should be proud of themselves for being selected as a finalist under the team category! I have always been impressed with their commitment to providing top quality care, my birthday celebrations were very special, and I could see the thought that went into organising everything from the team. Congratulations - I am rooting for them all to bring home the title!’.
Home Manager, Gary Kent, said, ‘I am so proud of everything my team have achieved over the past year. Their dedication and commitment to their residents during the course of the pandemic has been nothing short of inspiring and I am so pleased to see how they have been able to continue to adapt to their situation and create fun and exciting things for our residents to do, whilst continuing to provide the highest standards of personalised care. Well done Team Lydgate!’.
