Launton Grange care home, operated by Ideal Carehomes, has held its official ‘virtual’ grand opening ceremony with the help of a very special guest of honour: Strictly Come Dancing star, Flavia Cacace.
The care home, located on Skimmingdish Lane in Bicester, has created over 30 jobs for local people during its first phase of recruitment and will provide a home for 66 people.
To celebrate the launch of the luxurious home, residents and their friends and families, as well as the local community, were invited to join the Launton Grange team ‘live’ on Facebook to safely watch the ribbon-cutting ceremony. ITV’s Flavia Cacace gave a heart-warming speech, before she officially announced Launton Grange as open as Joyce Teat, the first resident at the home, cut the ribbon on her behalf.
Flavia said, ‘It is a pleasure to be asked to officially open Launton Grange in Bicester. It is so wonderful to see the support and person-centred care provided for residents so they are able to continue with their pastimes. I know for sure there is lots of dancing going on and I am sorry I cannot be there in person to join in.’
95-year-old resident Joyce Teat, said, ‘In recent years I have needed a little more help to do the things I love and over the UK’s first lockdown I began to feel very lonely and started looking into care options. I fell in love with Launton Grange and knew this is where I wanted to live, from the staff, activities and delicious food, I couldn’t be happier and I feel like I have my freedom back!’.
‘Our grand opening was such fun, I felt very special when I cut the ribbon. I am really looking forward to creating new friendships as more residents move into Launton Grange’.
Home Manager, Anne Measures, said, ‘I have been extremely excited to finally declare our beautiful home officially open! It was a pleasure to virtually meet Flavia - we all love watching the dancing in our cinema room. Our team have already welcomed their first resident, Joyce, who is settling in brilliantly and I look forward to welcoming more new faces to our home and helping them life live to the full’.
Anne continued, ‘Everything at Launton Grange puts us at the forefront of care and with the established Ideal Carehomes team and policies behind us too, we have all we need to ensure the continued wellbeing of our residents and staff. The brand new build allows us to be completely on top of infection control from the very start and the large social spaces give us the means to social distance with ease.’
Ideal Carehomes Director, Stacey Linn, said: ‘We are so pleased to be opening our first luxury care home in Bicester. Whilst our environments are second to none, it is our staff team who make our homes the best places to live. We are very proud of our newly recruited team, who encompass Ideal Carehomes ethos of person-centred care and really want to make a difference to the lives of our residents’.
