Larkhill Hall care home in Liverpool have received ‘GOOD’ news following their latest inspection from regulatory body, the Care Quality Commission. The inspection, which took place in early January, sees Larkhill Hall retaining their GOOD rating after hitting the spot across all five key areas of care: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Newly appointed Home Manager, Aaron Flitcroft, who joined in early December with over 13 years’ of care sector experience, has already inspired the team with his passion for person-centred care and promoting independence. During the visit, Inspectors observed day to day life at the home and examined paperwork, policies and care plans. They spoke to residents and family members, along with care workers and management to gather a full picture prior to compiling the complimentary report which concluded that Larkhill Hall staff, who provide care for up to 66 residents, promote a positive culture that is open, inclusive and empowering, achieving positive outcomes for the people who live at the home.

The constant theme running through the report shows that residents and staff feel supported and happy and that the home has continued to build on their last ‘Good’ report from 2019. Inspectors also noted the homes commitment to infection control, PPE, testing and training with Larkhill scoring top marks across all infection prevention and control areas.

In direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ideal Carehomes successfully implemented a unique ‘Ideal Fresh Living’ initiative which sees the care team being at the forefront of infection control and hygiene policies. Most recently, Larkhill Hall staff and residents were among the first in West Derby to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations, as a GP and Practice Manager from Moss Way Medical Surgery visited the home to administer the jabs quickly and effectively.

Residents families also supported the report, commenting to the Inspector, ‘The home is clean and it's a safe environment, I have total peace of mind my loved one is safe and well looked after’.
Alongside relative’s praise, staff told inspectors how happy they were to work at the care home, with one team member stating, ‘I feel supported in my role, and since Aaron joined the team, there has been a massive improvement in morale'.

91-year-old resident, David Threlkeld, said, ‘I admire the spirit of the care team at Larkhill Hall, they do give their all to us and go above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need and are happy. I simply cannot fault them, and I feel very lucky to live here. I am so pleased they received such good feedback in the CQC latest report – it is very well deserved!’.

Aaron, who was commended for his management approach and commitment to training and development, said, ‘It is a proud moment to receive this report and to maintain our ‘GOOD’ rating across the board. Having the seal of approval from the CQC is testament to the team, proving that all our hard work to constantly deliver the highest standards of care has paid off - a hugely positive start to the year! This result will provide a boost to the team at this time when they have given so much to their residents throughout the course of this global pandemic’.

Ideal Carehomes Regional Director, Christina Durnan, said, ‘I am thrilled that Larkhill Hall have maintained their ‘GOOD’ rating overall following their inspection, and this report is testament to the dedication of Aaron and the team. They all do a fantastic job, and it is wonderful to see them getting the recognition that they deserve - I would like to personally congratulate the whole team who make our home such a great place for our residents to live’.
