Studley care home launches birthday card appeal.

Haywood Lodge care home in Studley is launching a public appeal for birthday cards, for resident, Ralph Heaven, who will turn 100 years old on 12th July 2022.

Ralph, a former tap dancer, is looking forward to celebrating his birthday, and the care staff at Haywood House have a few surprises in store.

Since moving into the home, Ralph has expressed his love for tap dancing, Italy and going on cruises to the staff.

To make Ralph’s birthday as special as possible, the staff will be holding a three-day virtual cruise along the Amalfi Coast. The care team will decorate the home, and dress as cruise ship staff.

The kitchen team will be preparing a formal, black tie birthday meal and cake for Ralph and his family to enjoy on the day he turns 100.

A local dance school, Emma Charlotte’s Dance Academy, will visit the home to perform some tap dancing for Ralph, and children Mappleborough Green Primary school will hold a ‘best birthday card’ competition. Ralph will choose his favourite cards on his birthday.

Ilze Careless, Ideal Carehomes’ Regional Director for South Birmingham said,

‘Ralph is among some of the first residents we’ve welcomed into Haywood House, and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know everything about him.

‘We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone birthday with Ralph, and with a bit of help from our friends and the local community, we can make Ralph’s 100th birthday one to remember.’

Please send any birthday cards for Ralph to the following address:
