Ideal Carehomes is one of the first large care providers to have been able to offer every resident and staff member their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. Over 2000 people who live and work across the Ideal Carehomes estate have been offered the jab in just four weeks since the roll-out began at the end of December.
Each Ideal care home had been well prepared with the essential administration work required for receiving the vaccine and this put them in good stead to be the one of the first homes to be vaccinated in their respective locations. Cecilia Lockwood, Registered Nurse based at Brinnington Surgery who attended Brinnington Hall care home in Stockport to deliver the vaccine said,“It was a pleasure to visit Brinnington Hall. Rachel, the Home Manager, and the team have been extremely organised which has made the whole process very straightforward.”
As the government deadline approaches for all care home residents to be vaccinated by the end of the month, Ideal Carehomes have praised the dedication and hard work of not only their own teams but also GPs, Registered Nurses and local authorities who have facilitated the roll-out.
Stacey Linn, Director at Ideal Carehomes, said, “I am so proud of our managers and care teams for their continued resilience, dedication and commitment. It is no coincidence that our homes are this far down the line in the vaccination programme – it is testament to the fact that they were prepared and ready for the roll-out. All our local health professionals have been amazing and we have seen a real desire to get the job done. It really has been multidisciplinary working at its best and we can’t thank them enough.”
Many of the compassionate Ideal Carehomes’ managers arranged for residents to pair up with staff members whilst having their injections to offer additional support. Brenda Beaumont, 77, who has lived at Greenacres in Huddersfield since 2017 received her vaccination two weeks ago. She said, “Everyone at Greenacres has been fantastic so it felt right to do this together. The whole day went smoothly and was very well organised. I feel privileged to be one of the first to have the vaccine and although we have stayed safe at home, I am hopeful that this is the start of the whole world bouncing back from this awful virus.”
Stacey continued, “The last 11 months have been a real challenge for everyone but our staff are truly inspirational - not just for the way they have worked together but also for how quickly and efficiently they have responded to numerous new guidelines. The availability of the vaccine is a relief to us, our residents and their families and there has been a real buzz in the homes on vaccination day. We will continue to be as vigilant as ever in order to protect our residents but it has certainly been emotional for us all to take this positive step together in the fight against Coronavirus.”
Throughout the pandemic, Ideal Carehomes has successfully launched three brand new state of the art care facilities in Sandbach, Bicester and Dudley, as well as achieving four new Good ratings and retaining two. Consequently, every single home in the portfolio that has been inspected by the CQC is now rated Good or Outstanding. The provider, based in Leeds, now has 22 homes in Yorkshire, the North West and Midlands with another five due to open this year.
