95-year-old Rose Price from Mountview care home in Rothley was ‘very proud’ when she got a surprise visit from her granddaughter in her wedding dress.
Rose’s granddaughter, Luka, married in Italy, but unfortunately Rose was unable to attend.
Unbeknown to Rose, Luka and the staff at Mountview had planned a surprise photoshoot in the home before the wedding, to capture the moment when Rose saw Luka in her wedding dress for the first time. Luka said,
‘I’ve always been very close to nanna Rose. She would visit us most Sundays and spend a lot of Christmases with us when I was a child – we even named our own child after her, Amelia-Rose.
‘I knew nanna Rose wouldn’t be able to fly out to Italy, but I really wanted to show her my dress. I was a bit worried to hear her opinion because she’s known for saying exactly what she thinks, but she loved the dress and made me do a twirl to see it all!’
Rose especially liked the ‘detail of the lace’ on the dress and couldn’t contain her joy as she looked at her beloved granddaughter. Rose commented,
‘I was very shocked and surprised when I saw her, it was so lovely. It made me very proud; we are so close and to see her so happy is all I could ask for.’
Luka had the photos printed and placed one at the wedding ceremony in honour of her nanna Rose.
Stacie Weaver, the Home Manager at Mountview, said,
‘It was such an honour to see Rose’s reaction to her granddaughter’s wedding dress, there were definitely a few tears being shed by our care team! Luka looked absolutely beautiful, and Rose was grinning from ear to ear.
‘Moments like these are priceless, which is why we are dedicated to supporting our residents and their families in creating such special memories.’
