Cheltenham’s Newest Eco-Friendly Care Home Development Welcomes Mayor

Cheltenham’s latest luxury care home development from Ideal Carehomes welcomed the Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Matt Babbage and his consort, Suzy Babbage, as the newly built home progresses towards it’s opening in September.

Located on Gloucester Road, it will be Ideal Carehomes’ 37th home, and will provide 24-hour residential and dementia care for its residents, as well as bring 65 jobs to the area, once fully staffed.

The Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Matt Babbage and his consort, were greeted by Maria Taylor, Commissioning Director at Ideal Carehomes.

The Mayor and his consort were given a tour of the EPC ‘A’ rated care home, built to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly, which will include 66 spacious bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms, a cinema room, hair salon, and landscaped sensory gardens.

A solar panel was then added to the care home’s roof in a ceremonial ‘topping out’ to mark the next stages of construction.

Impressed by the use of solar panels and ground source heat pump technology, giving the home the ability to operate as a Carbon Free Green home running without the use of gas, the Mayor said,

‘We enjoyed our visit to the new state of the art care home in Cheltenham that will soon be available to our community.
‘It’s great that so much thought and consideration has been put into the facilities and its impact on the environment, and it was a pleasure to help lay a solar panel on the roof of the building.
‘I have every confidence that the home will provide a warm and welcoming place to live, and I look forward to visiting again to meet future staff and residents.’

Maria Taylor added, ‘I’d like to thank the Mayor of Cheltenham, Matt Babbage and his consort Suzy, for joining us to talk about our new home and its eco-friendly features.

‘Our Cheltenham home is coming together nicely, and I’m sure our future residents will appreciate what the home has to offer. I’m especially looking forward to welcoming the local community to see the new facilities when we officially open our doors later this year.

‘During the summer we’ll begin the search for a caring team whose focus will be to create a welcoming and fulfilling lifestyle for the people who choose to live with us.’
