Deputy Manager Katie Atkinson from Herald Lodge care home in Coventry has been named the Care Team Member of the Year in provider Ideal Carehomes’ Ideal Care Awards.
The Ideal Care Awards seek to recognise the hard-work and dedication demonstrated by Ideal Carehomes’ team members across all 36 care homes.
With over 1000 nominations submitted this year, the awards have seven categories ranging from Support Star of the Year to the Home of the Year Award, to the Kindness in Care Award.
There is also a special category created with residents in mind, called the Resident Outstanding Contribution Award. This award gives credit to those residents who are the life and soul of their homes, joining in with activities and making the most of every day.
Katie was named the winner of the Care Team Member of the Year Award for ‘always going that extra mile for residents and colleagues, and being the one person in the team who is always looking out for others – the home would not be the same without them.’
Katie said, ‘I am absolutely over the moon; it feels so good to receive recognition for the work that I do. I wouldn’t be able to do the job that I do without our wonderful team here at Herald Lodge. The team have made me the carer I am today so a special thanks to them all. Each day is such a privilege to be able to care for remarkable individuals – it makes caring a pleasure!’
Katie’s win was announced at a glitzy ‘dress to impress’ awards ceremony on 17th April 2024, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the East Midlands and hosted by celebrity guest, Shaun Williamson.
Gemma Pearcey, the Home Manager at Herald Lodge, commented, ‘I feel so privileged to have Katie as part of our team. For Katie nothing is ever to much trouble and the relationships she has formed with residents and family members as well as colleagues is second to none.’
