Leicester Care Home Commended for Empowering Residents to ‘Lead Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives’

Bradley Hall care home in Leicester, operated by Ideal Carehomes, are celebrating after receiving a CQC (Care Quality Commission) rating of ‘GOOD’ for the second time.

Opened in 2013, Bradley Hall was rated ‘GOOD’ in all five areas of inspection, which are designed to ensure that care homes are safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led.

During the visit, CQC inspectors observed the residents’ experience in the home. They spoke to several residents, their families, and staff members, seeking feedback on the service the care home offers.

In the resulting report from the CQC, Bradley Hall was found to be focused on ‘maximising people’s independence and quality of life’, respecting and listening to their residents’ wishes. The report states,

‘Staff were seen spending time with people, providing reassurance and support, engaging people in conversation, making them laugh and encouraging them to take part in activities.’

95-year-old resident, Betty Seward, who moved into Bradley Hall in the New Year, said, ‘I feel this is a great place to be. I love the exercise classes that we have, and I’ve met some lovely people. The staff are great, it doesn’t feel like I’m living in a care home.’

Inspectors were especially impressed at the staff’s ‘commitment and creativity’ in providing residents with opportunities to ‘lead fulfilling and rewarding lives’, and to be involved in their local community. The report spoke about a ‘Sydney Shakers’ session that was held in the home,

We watched a group of people laugh and spend time with a group of young children and their parents, taking part in a sing along, waving scarves and blowing bubbles.’

‘Various clubs and events were routinely held, which included the delivery of fresh flowers for flower arranging, knit and natter groups, and a dominoes club.’

Bradley Hall was also commended for the ‘open, inclusive and empowering’ culture for its staff members, enabling them to give good quality, person-centred care.

One staff member said, ‘I feel lucky, the management team are all supportive. I can always go to [care manager] or [registered manager]. I feel confident to go and see them.’

Thrilled with the outcome of the inspection, Home Manager, Lee Daly, said,

‘I am immensely proud of everyone that has contributed to this fantastic report. Thank you to our incredible team at Bradley Hall for their continued dedication to providing the very best person-centred care and to our amazing residents and their families for their unwavering support.

‘We’d also like to thank our community, who support and join in with our group events such as our Stay and Play club and our coffee mornings. We have lots more planned for the next few months including a weekly Puppy Play session, so we hope to see lots of dog lovers at Bradley Hall!’

Bradley Hall will be throwing a party to celebrate their CQC results on 17th February 2023. All are welcome to attend and enjoy live entertainment, refreshments and games with the staff and residents at Bradley Hall.
