Covid 19 - Coronavirus Update - 28th September 2020

Published: Monday 28th September 2020

To all our residents, relatives and friends,

COVID 19 (Coronavirus) – Update

We understand that the last few months have been difficult in terms of us all being unable to see our loved ones when we choose, and we recognise that everyone is looking forward to resuming home visits as soon as possible.

Even though we have seen some positive gradual easing of social contact restrictions by the government, this has been overshadowed by various ‘local lockdowns’ due to the increased rates of Coronavirus infections within the community.

We have carefully considered how we can respond to these changes in a safe, reassuring and balanced way whilst minimising the risk of infection but also embracing the significant health and wellbeing benefits for our residents that your visits bring.

Where possible, and with our residents’ and colleagues’ protection at the core of our decisions, we have been able to facilitate drive-through, window visits and garden visits in order to safely reconnect families.  The joy that these visits has brought to our residents has been truly palpable.

I wanted to let you know that we are already arranging measures for potential visits in winter months, such as meeting loved ones in a dedicated indoor ‘social room’.  We will continue to do everything we can in order to facilitate your visits and your Home Manager will be in touch with you very soon outlining our plans on this.

As I am sure you will appreciate, visits will always be governed by external restrictions which are out of our hands, such as ‘local lockdowns’ and other government instructions.  We understand how difficult this situation is for everyone but where there are government enforced restrictions, we must comply with them as they have been put in place for the community’s protection.

In the meantime, our homes continue to be a safe and happy environment for our residents with person-centred care and an abundance of activities.  Online video calling has worked well for so many residents and their families and we can facilitate this at your convenience, please call us and we will be happy to arrange this for you.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and stay safe,

Kind regards,

Stacey Linn
