Residents and staff members from Blakelands Lodge care home in Marston Moretaine recently celebrated the home’s first anniversary since opening in April 2022.
To mark the occasion, Blakelands Lodge welcomed the local community to their First Anniversary Party, where they also honoured the resident who was the first to move into the home, 84-year-old June Thomson.
During the celebration, June was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a framed picture of her first day at Blakelands Lodge. June said,
‘I really enjoyed the party! I had my family around me, and my seven great grandchildren came to celebrate with us. I’m very happy here, I love the home and all the staff are very kind and attentive to us all.’
Residents and guests were entertained by singer and performer, Fiona Harrison, while they browsed stalls set up by local businesses, played games and enjoyed delicious homemade refreshments.
The Home Manager at Blakelands Lodge, James Eeles-Feeney, said,
‘I was delighted to see our residents, their families, and people from the local community come together to celebrate our first anniversary. We’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who joined us for making the day such a massive success.’
Every Tuesday from 13:30, staff and residents at Blakelands Lodge are inviting anyone from the area to their Chatty Café, where all are welcome to enjoy a hot drink and homemade cake in the care home.
