Staff and residents at Cadley Hill View care home in Swadlincote are getting ready to host their first Open Week on Monday 15th August.
During Open Week, staff and residents at Cadley Hill View will invite family, friends and the local community into their home to enjoy a variety of activities from 1:00pm every day. Visitors will also be able to tour the home, speak to the staff and meet the residents.
Open Week will kick-off with an art gallery in the care home on Monday, showcasing local artists and residents’ creations.
On Tuesday, visitors will be able to enjoy an afternoon tea, with live entertainment from local showman, Rob Wilson.
The home will host a ‘Film Day’ on Wednesday. Residents and staff will ‘dress for the Oscars’, while inviting their community to watch some box office classics in the cinema room.
Visitors can join the care home’s residents for a cocktail and mocktail party on Thursday, with a tropical Hawaiian twist.
On Friday, all are welcome to a ‘Menu Sampling’, where the kitchen team in the home will be showcasing their culinary talents.
David Godrich, the Home Manager at Cadley Hill View, said,
‘We can’t wait to welcome the community to our home – all the residents and staff are really excited. We hope lots of people come along, meet the team and our residents and see what our fantastic home is all about.’
As the week draws to an end, the home will throw their Summer Fair for the public. On Saturday 20th August, the Swadlincote community are welcome to enjoy a day of family fun, with a BBQ, games, a bouncy castle, live entertainment and much more!
97-year-old resident, Marie Thompson, said,
There are different activities each day which is something I love to join in with and I enjoy socialising with the friends I’ve made here. I am looking forward to meeting new people during the open week and for everyone to see how wonderful it is here.’
